Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)

The Added Value of B2B

EDI is an older technology that is identified with standards such as ANSI X12, EDIFACT, etc..  B2B integration is typically used in relation to the movement of data between businesses, but not necessarily limited to EDI.  Whether moving purchase orders in EDI or XML format, using VAN’s (Value Added Networks), Exchanges, or direct connect protocols such as AS2, FTP, etc. - the ability to connect electronically is crucial for many global companies today.

Before renewing a contract with a traditional VAN, or selecting one for the first time, ask yourself “Where is the value add in VAN today?"  VAN’s have traditionally made (and still make) a lot of money on what is now considered a commodity and not a value add.  It is simply data transport, or moving the data from your organization to your trading partner – that’s it.  The VAN typically takes your data, which is created with your application or translator, and simply moves it someplace else.

Liaison provides value add with many standard and optional B2B services, such as batching data like the traditional VAN’s, Complex Transformation/Translation, Business Process Integration to your back end system in real-time, AS2 management, or Business Process Alerts, to name just a few.

B2B and EDI Assessment

Whether you are looking to simply get a quote for data movement (traditional VAN), or to find out how to reduce your overall B2B costs, Liaison can make your inquiry quick, simple and worthwhile. With a few simple data points, we can develop a quote, and begin to assemble an assessment document that will outline our best solution for your unique situation. ‘Value Add’ to Liaison means improving your service levels to both your internal and external customers, which may be difficult with constrained or limited resources. Customers have evaluated all of the internal and external choices, and selected Liaison, based on our ability to deliver improved SLA’s, cost savings and additional benefits not typically found among traditional B2B service providers.

If your business is being asked to deliver more with less, look to a partner that provides B2B services and value at a fraction of your current costs.
