Blood and marrow transplant centers have a unique set of requirements to manage Hematopoietic transplant data and then transfer that data to CIBMTR, the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research.
Transplant center teams know that submitting outcomes data through CIBMTR’s FormsNet is important and serves a good purpose, but it can be a bit of a one-way street. While CIBMTR does offer ways to get data back from them, these options have limitations or can be challenging to implement.
Most will be familiar with the Data Back to Center report. It’s a good report and fairly easy to consume, but its drawback is that what you get back only represents a fraction of the data available in the CIBMTR repository.
If you want to retrieve more of the data, the other option is AGNIS (A Growable Network Information System), which is a web service that allows a center to connect and retrieve the contents of full forms going back to 2007. This will provide a more complete data set, but it has one major problem – it takes a lot of time and resources to get it up and running at your site.
So, which one do you choose or are there other alternatives? Data Back to Center may provide you with some useful insight, but your next big discovery might be hidden away in data excluded from that report. Alternatively, do you have the time and IT resources to develop an interface and data storage solution to take advantage of AGNIS
The good news is, there is another option. A flexible cloud-based solution that lets you keep a copy of your data, with user friendly tools to help you easily query and visualize your trends, combined with the ability to enrich your existing data sets AND integrate with other data sources (like EMRs), will provide a 360° view of patients and help you derive new insights from all of your data.
