Liaison Technologies sponsored a booth at this year’s CIO Perspective conference, held in the beautiful Nikko Hotel in downtown San Francisco. The event attracted about a dozen sponsors from different industries and about 70 attendees – from CIO’s to IT executives. The purpose of this event was to bring these IT executives together to help advise them to expand on their business, based on real-world experiences, and to speak with vendors that could help in streamlining some of their processes and infrastructures.
On to the sessions. A session held by Steven Bandrowczak, CIO of Avaya, spoke about ‘Social Media and IT Consumerization in the Enterprise: Meet Demand and Minimize Risk’. It was a very interesting topic around how social media is here and not going anywhere. If you take a look at the statistics, the younger generation has pulled all of us into a social media craze. As a parent, you don’t dare call your son/daughter. They will NEVER answer. But if you text, they respond almost immediately. Heck, even my 80 year-old mother-in-law texts more than most 40-50 year olds. So how does your business take advantage of that thought process to help grow customer satisfaction and increase revenue?
Alvarez and Marsel held a session on ‘Removing the Barriers to Innovation and Change’. Alvarez and Marsel is a professional services organization specializing in helping companies realize their potential through performance improvement and advisory services. They noted the top ten list of CIO concerns. Did you realize that IT cost reduction wasn’t in the top five? Number one was business productivity, followed by business agility and speed to market. Several years ago, IT costs were the big items on most CIO’s top five, if not number one.
There were a few other sessions I attended but these two stood out in my mind as relevant and current for CIO and IT executives today.
So how did the show turn out for Liaison? Actually, quite well. We met several key IT executives and CIO’s that want to learn more about what Liaison offers in their world to solve some of their pain points. Here are some of the questions that were asked:
- What is a Cloud Service Brokerage (CSB)?
- How can I leverage this even if I am pure A2A?
- What benefits or competitive edge do I get with moving to a CSB and leveraging Liaison’s solutions?
- What does Gartner say about all this?
- Will my team become more productive without me having to increase head count?
More to come as we attend other shows and learn more about the real pains these IT execs face daily. Please send me a note if you want to know any answers to the above questions.
