AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association) kicked off Sunday evening with a cocktail reception in the exhibition hall at the McCormick Conference Center in Chicago.
The reception was well attended, with many eager Health Information Managers looking forward to the next three days of innovative health IT sessions. This is the 84th year for AHIMA’s annual conference, and just as in the past, has approximately 3800+ registered attendees for this year’s event.
With over 225 vendors show-casing their products and solutions, attendees were quickly moving from booth to booth in an effort to absorb the latest innovative technology solutions and services that can increase productivity and decrease expenses for their respective organizations.
One of the most exciting events of the evening was a tumbling show provided by Jesse White’s Tumbling Team. The tumblers, with Jess White there to coach them on, provided an excellent acrobatic performance. It was very impressive to see such a talented group of performers, who must adhere to strict rules to stay in this program. It was apparent that all team members were committed to maintaining their C average in academic course work, staying in school and out of gangs, while maintaining a healthily clean body by adhering to the “no drugs” compliance. In closing, as we start off Monday with the opening session “Dream Big: Creating the Future” by Patty Thierry Sheridan and Lynne Thomas Gordon of AHIMA, we will have a lot of excellent educational programs to look forward to. Follow us over the next few days as we provide new blog posts of Liaison’s experience at AHIMA’s Annual Conference 2012.
