By Naveen Sarabu, Director, Product Management and Strategy, Liaison Healthcare Informatics
Liaison exhibited and presented at the 84th American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Convention held last week in the windy city of Chicago, Illinois. The theme of this year’s convention was “Next Stop to Health Innovation,” with a focus on providing innovative solutions to enable use of quality health information for improving clinical outcomes. There were interesting and well-known speakers from the healthcare industry, as well as inspirational speakers from outside the industry like artist and educator Regina Holliday and the well-known comedian Joy Behar.
As part of the convention, AHIMA held for the first time the Health Information Innovation Leadership Conference. The organization invited selected industry speakers to present new concepts and innovative technologies for transforming health information and healthcare. I was fortunate to represent Liaison as a speaker at the Innovation Leadership Conference.
I presented “Speeding Healthcare Interoperability Through Cloud-based Integration and Data Harmonization.” It was inspiring and interesting to hear other speakers regarding healthcare information at point of care, using analytics for quality insights, and natural language processing for coding and secondary data use.
Other hot topics at the session included clinical data improvement, data analysis, mapping, privacy and security, reporting, governance, training, and ICD-10.
