In my previous post, we discussed the need to expect the unexpected. As Star Trek’s Mr. Spock said, “There are always alternatives.” Your best approach is to consider all options when a snafu is discovered in order to successfully move forward. Then, apply these lessons learned to other areas of your business.
Step Six: Integrate More Business Processes
You Did It!
Congratulations, fist bumps and high-fives all around! You successfully implemented your new business integration project and it’s running on all cylinders. Your customers and partners have adapted to the change and all indications are that your company is realizing benefits as a direct result of your project. Now what?
Don’t Stop Now
You have followed the first five steps to a successful implementation project, so now it’s time to consider whether you have other business processes that would be good candidates for a similar plan. Think creatively about how you can implement more integration processes. Ask your integration provider about other solutions they have worked on that are applicable to your business. Ask your customers and partners if they would like to integrate with you in other ways. The answers to these questions, along with experience gained the first time around, will set into motion your next successful integration project.
