Artificial intelligence is changing the world, and data is driving that revolution. Access to AI is accelerating, thanks to developments like TensorFlow, an open source software library for numerical computation. TensorFlow can be used to accomplish many different tasks, including the training of deep learning models and the creation of art.
I recently worked on a couple of projects with TensorFlow, using a neural network to classify handwritten digits from the MNIST dataset. I’m also working on a project to automate test question generation based on specific topics, using natural language processing. Data makes these and millions of other projects possible.
I’m currently a senior at Mercer Island High School, and data is already a huge part of my life. I’ve worked on many data-intensive projects, including programming mobile apps. I’ve also completed an engineering internship at Microsoft, where I created a browser extension that extracts webpage metadata to save research citations. I’m currently an intern at Pioneer Square Labs in Seattle, where I’m working on a machine learning classifier.
My plan is to major in computer science in college, and eventually, I’d like to study artificial intelligence in graduate school. Thanks to Liaison Technologies, paying for college will be easier: I was recently honored to receive a $5,000 Data-Inspired Future Scholarship from Liaison. I’m looking forward to using the funds to explore new possibilities with data in my studies.
New breakthroughs are happening every day, powered by data and AI. After I complete my education, I plan to pursue a career in artificial intelligence and machine learning. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to make data-driven discoveries, and I’m thankful for the scholarship from Liaison, which will help me reach my data-inspired future.
