An Advisory Council focused on leveraging data to improve health
Challenges, opportunities and advancements in accessing, integrating, and managing data
Liaison formed the Advisory Council to facilitate discussions among leaders in the healthcare and life sciences industries on how to identify, access, integrate and manage valuable data to improve patient’s lives. Remarkable amounts of data are generated throughout the ecosystem, yet often these data sources are siloed, locking away critical data in disparate systems or proprietary applications, and preventing effective access and reuse throughout the lifecycle – from discovery through to late stage commercial, from bench to bedside, and across the various organizations participating in patient care.
Unfortunately, most working groups and industry councils are focused on specific data domains, vendor specific technologies or developing common standards. To be effective, these standards need to be adopted and implemented by all data stakeholders to improve data access, sharing and reuse. This approach often requires organizations to change backend systems, applications or internal processes, and ultimately, does very little to improve reuse as the burden of such an approach remains with the data owner.
